Cleanup & Demolition

From 2019 - 2024, the Rex Board & community members labored in removing water damaged floors, stairs, walls, stage, etc. The project was extensive and resulted in a clean building as seen in the final photo.

The demolition of the interior stage, balcony, mezzanine and walls was completed over a two week period in February 2023.

Most of the demolition has been completed here, except for the stage.

This view is from the old projection booth toward the stage area. The concrete pedestals held the very heavy projector. Chad Summers and crew have been busy removing unneeded debris and saving valuable artifacts.

All the wood in the building will be removed and replaced with new - quite a large task!

This is a view from the stage area back to the balcony and projection booth.

Found in the Theater, a shipping box to Charles Beardmore, the builder of the Beardmore Block. The present owner of the building is Brian Runberg, Charles’ great grandson. Learn more about the Beardmore Building here.

Interior demolition has been completed and a base of gravel installed.

The 1923 banner is returned to its original place above where the future stage will be.
